And in other news, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) is getting ready for Kim’s [25 year old grandson to take over power](http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-11152682) courtesy of the [first Workers Party meeting in 44 years](http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-11152682) (now there’s democracy under communism in action), while in Germany the Communist Party (in proof of their being strong like bull, schmart like streetcar)[has been busy handing out porn pens](http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6823EY20100903?feedType=nl&feedName=usoddlyenough)to six year olds on their first day of school. ---

China’s misfortune and the world’s is that when Sun Yat Sen died in 1925 no one with his leadership ability and character took his place. Chiang Kai Shek and Mao Tse Tung were dictators who viewed personal power more than the wellbeing of China. When Mao Tse Tung governed China, China had a huge population supported by a primitive farming system. In the United States when crops fail the price of food rises. In China when that happens millions starve to death. This happened during the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution. Both of these disrupted Chinese society in ways the Chinese could not afford. Although Chiang was in some ways as bad, and perhaps worse than Mao, the society he helped found in Taiwan - also called “Nationalist China” - is by every criterion I value superior to Communist China. Taiwan has a democratic government. The per capita gross domestic product is higher.
