I’m just having a hard time reconciling someone with a user name “Stinkpalm” with a person who want’s to smell nice and fresh and not like a locker room. As a hijack this reminds me of the time when I replaced a roommate’s deorderant with that hair removal gel glide stick (it looked like his deorderant… and it was first thing in the morning so he used it…) ---

**Stinkpalm** , my husband agrees with you. He hates all that musky-sporty deodorant crap. He’s never gone so far as to use “women’s” deodorant, though, because he found a “men’s” deodorant that doesn’t smell like that. It’s Speed Stick “Fresh”, the _white solid_ with the green cap. The smell is nice and, IMO, gender-neutral (even though the back of the container says “Clean masculine scent.”) I have to be very careful to buy the right one–he will accept no substitutes. However, if you prefer “Passion Blossoms,” more power to you. Why do men feel the need to rag on each other for that shit? My husband got ragged on by some teenage boys in the locker room at the Y last week because he had a towel with _gasp_ _a pink stripe in it!_ :rolleyes: ---

Ahem. I’m a girl who likes to use Old Spice. I love the scent, it turns me on. I know its probably sick and perverted to get turned on by your own smell, but there you go. Maybe it turns me on cuz I only use it after I’ve spent the night at my pseudo/ex b-f’s house. ---

I don’t like deoderant smells, so I get odor free ones when possible. I do use scented lotion and occassionally body spray, but they are “cake batter” scented, and they don’t smell all weird, they just make it smell like I’ve been baking. I am a male and I grew up wearing Secret deodorant (60s, 70s - when it was a cream, then roll-on). I never knew that it was supposed to be for women until I saw a commercial about it being “strong enough for a man, made for a woman.” It never bothered me. In fact, I just bought four or five things of it. it smells good. I never like those Mennen Speed Stick. They stank to high heavens. I smell it loudly in gym locker rooms (like at the Y). ---

I use Certain Dri and, at least where I do my shopping, that brand is located in the “Women’s” section. So I guess I use women’s anti-perspirant but I have no idea what makes it a women’s product. ---

I use Arm & Hammer’s deodorant, because I get an allergic reaction to antiperspirants. It has a nice light herbal scent. I had trouble finding it in the store last time I bought it though, because they had separated the men’s and women’s products, and they put it in the men’s section. I don’t think I smell like a man with it on me. ---

Most of the stick deodorants have an “Unscented” flavor, which is what I use. My older brother always used Right Guard, the smell of which kinda makes me sick. ---

Can’t fault the OP for liking what he likes, though after 14 years I’m sure he’s become immune to any criticism he might be getting! The last deodorant I bought is a good example of the craziness of even distinguishing them as male- or female-appropriate. The packaging is the most masculine, manly thing you can imagine – a solid black container with manly names and phrases all over it – but that’s not why I got it. I was looking for something fresh but subtle, and the actual deodorant inside this monument to masculinity is subtle and delicate enough that it could easily pass as a woman’s deodorant. In fact if the company is smart they are repackaging the exact same stuff in a delicate pink container and calling it “Passion Blossoms”! Now everyone smells exactly the same but they feel gender-secure because the packaging tells them so. Such is marketing. The only real problem with some of the stuff is the scents are overly strong or strangely artificial. The goal here is to not particularly smell like anything at all. AFAIC, if you don’t smell like an explosion at a perfume factory or stink like a hog in a shit pool it’s all good. ---

I generally use either Mitchum or Ban unscented roll-on, both of which seem pretty unisex to me. I buy whichever is on sale. Now that they’ve separated them by gender in a lot of places, I have to go trek around different aisles to check prices and availability. Annoying. I should just get it online. [Drugstore.com](http://Drugstore.com) is a huge timesaver. I should use it for more stuff. ---
