I laughed when my sister took a lunch lady job a few years ago, but it’s actually worked out really well for her. She gets all the same days off as her kids, since she’s in the same district, so no childcare issues. She also never has to buy food for holiday gatherings anymore, since everything opened has to get thrown out for holiday breaks she grabs the ginormous bags/boxes of salad or whatever and that’s what she brings. Beats the hell out of going to school for years getting that teaching degree just to get summers off, too! 😉 ---

I work at a MegaHell R and as far as I can tell the grocery retail jobs are fueled by stupid management rules and stupid people following the rules enforced by stupid managers who worry more about making the stupid customers happy than it’s employees. Stupid job. ---

We had awesome lunch ladies in the school where I did K-8. I have one of the ladies’ apple crisp recipe - it’s too sweet for me now, but it was excellent when I was a kid. They also made the BEST mac 'n cheese (no canned sauce), among other things. Let us know if you get the job. Well, all it is is a resume that I tried to hand deliver and then stand around until either I was hired or pulled out of there by the local police. But, do to major construction at the school, the district office shut down early. So, rather than duct tape my envelope to the office door, I found a stamp and popped it into the mail. Should I have enclosed a $20 or something to ensure I at least get a good looksie? ---

My cousin’s wife started out as a lunch lady and now manages the food staff for the entire school district. There could be a future for you in this too! Or, you could remain a lunch lady if you choose. Either way, best of “lunch” to you. ---

This isn’t exactly a zombie thread, I hope. Update: I have been carpet bombing the district office with my resume at every job posting they put on the web site. I’ve had one postion interview for Lunch Room Nazi and Playground Nazi, and apparently, I was the runner up for the job. Look, I can enforce the rules like nobody’s bidness. (GAHHHHHHHH.) Every job here is about Who You Know. **Mr. Ujest** ’s job has suffered from the economy and has taken a 25% paycut to keep his job and benefits. I quit my job at MegaHell in October because of the Circular Dumbassery there and if we budget tightly we won’t make the electric bill and pretty much only that. ( Knock Wood.) He is looking for a part time night job anywhere ( Any company that gets him would be getting a Diamond of an Employee.Just a freakin’ Diamond.) Please, send good vibes our way. ---
