Of course a close reading of some of my General Questions would have made this clear, but I am just bursting and need to tell everyone ‘officially.’ She Who Must Not Be Named dumped me a few months ago. We argued constantly, being in love with a Latina is like having an opera inside your head all the time. Lots of noise, lots of drama. Then Kathy found me on FaceBook. Kathy was the first girl I ever kissed. My high school sweetheart, we went to university together. Then, in her second summer she married someone else. Thirty-two years later and we are together again. It is like picking up a conversation again after all those years. It is so nice to be with her. She says nice things to me. I missed that. She is a widow lady now. John was killed in an industrial accident. We are in our fifties, and a relationship at our age is … different. Friendship and companionship are the main things. She has two children, both almost thirty. Imagine that! Changes are afoot for me (for both of us, really). Still, life is about change and I embrace it. I just wanted to tell you all. I am very happy. ---

Congrats. I was lucky enough to marry someone who’d known me since we were seventeen - but not until we were in our 30s. It does seem different than most relationships - and definitely has its advantages. ---

My brother did much the same thing - recently married his junior high girlfriend. They’re both about 60, and very happy. ---
