> My son’s kindergarten teacher was (and still is) like that. I said to my five year old son “its ok if you have a crush on your kindergarten teacher, its normal” and to my husband “and besides, you wouldn’t want to NOT have one when she looks like that.”

I had a huge crush on my stunningly gorgeous fifth-grade math teacher - tall, brunette, curvy, big eyes, with an adorable spray of freckles across her nose. I had to really concentrate on what she was saying in class, or I’m sure I would’ve flunked, she was so amazingly beautiful. As it happened, my best friend had a crush on her, too. We were so young it wasn’t a rivalry or anything. We’d just spend the first few minutes after each class saying sophisticated things like, “Isn’t she just…?” “Yeah.” “And did you notice that she…?” “Oh, yeah.”

:: heavy sigh ::

I can still see her so clearly in my mind’s eye, all these years later. Wow.

> . . . If I could have gotten together with her, I would have made it my life’s work to make her smile as much as possible, just to spread it around to others.

That has got to be one of the sweetest things I’ve read in a while.

My father used to work with a man who has two daughters. The only time I saw the girls, years ago, they were probably around 7 and 5. They were … astonishing. HUGE dark eyes, with those impossibly long butterfly lashes, and long, thick hair. Picture a pair of real-life Disney Princess Jasmines, and you’ll be close.

Jesus. I just did the math and they must be in college by now. :eek:

> Because it’s like asking a fish to describe water. Pretty people, who have always been pretty, just live in that world.
> If you live in a world where drop-dead-gorgeous is \*only \*defined as thin, long legged and blonde, a drop-dead-gorgeous short, busty, red-head is not not going to think she’s pretty, let alone the Glamzons (love that, thanks!) described upthread.

A good friend of mine in college was very attractive and certainly knew that guys thought she was hot\*, but at the same time was painfully aware that she wasn’t a “conventional” beauty. She wasn’t blonde, wasn’t tall, was curvy rather than skinny, etc. The fact that men thought she was sexy wasn’t as comforting as it might have been, as plenty of guys very openly only wanted one thing from her. I think she would have preferred to be more an Audrey Hepburn-esque delicate beauty. It didn’t help that her mother was a former beauty queen and also kind of psycho, and that my friend had been forced to compete in child beauty pageants until she was old enough to rebel. So from an early age she’d been dealing with a lot of nasty criticisms from her mother about any perceived flaws in her appearance, and had also been pushed into a world where the girl deemed prettiest by others quite literally won.

\*One time we went out to a bar, and within about 15 minutes two guys had asked for her number. Which may not seem _that_ impressive, except _this was a gay bar!_

Great line from _Archer_: “Honey, nobody’s _that_ gay.”

A few years back I met my dad in Italy on holiday (they were working there), and during a barbeque with his neighbours I met this young Canadian girl who was just absolutely stunning. Thick, curly black hair, bright eyes, big smile, amazing body. More, she was bubbly, funny, intelligent and ambitious. We got on really well and we even went out on a ‘date’ while I was there. We kept in touch.

Of course since then she’s moved back to Canada, gone to uni and now living with her now boyfriend. Lucky bastard.

Riding an elevator in a highrise office building…

The doors opened and I was face to face with the most amazingly beautiful woman I had ever seen…or seen since… I stood there staring like an idiot, blocking the door so no one else could get out and she could not get in. I did not even realize I was doing this until she rolled her eyes and said… “Excuse me, Out or in?” A co worker said I stared for at least 15 seconds! I only saw her one more time and she moved to the far end of the hallway as I passed.

I think I saw “Brad Bateman” again, on the street at lunchtime! He probably noticed me, too, and thought, “that woman looks like Margaret Hamilton and Edna May Oliver had a baby.”
