Jerkweed porn-surfing patrons come into the library and think we don’t know what they’re doing. Can’t prove it and don’t know are two _very_ different things. No, Cochise, your looking over your shoulder every 8 seconds and minimizing a window every time I shift in my chair … no, that’s not making me suspicious _at all_. :rolleyes: Sadly, when this particular one strolled in this evening, I had to seat him at a machine that makes him inconvenient to monitor. So for an hour, he had a ball. No. Pun. Intended. 😉 Then I mixed him up but good. I shifted over two seats and have had since then an unobstructed view of his screen. Now he looks over his shoulder every two minutes or so to see if I’m still there and I smile my most helpful “Anything I can do for ya?” smile and he goes back to looking at [weather.com](http://weather.com). HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ---

One of my friends worked in a library. They had about a dozen guys they knew were porn-surfers, and had to constantly monitor the others ---

This confuses me. Why would you want to look at porn in a public place, where you can’t, y’know, _do_ anything with it? What’s the goal? “Wow, this is an incredibly sexy girl. My penis is extrodinarily hard! Too bad I can’t touch it for six more hours!” I’m similarly confused about the idea of watching porn with people you don’t intend to have sex with. ---

Unfortunately we have several who do not care if others see them or not. One useless piece of shit will leave the computer with ugly “rape” pictures up. This kind of nonsense makes me more willing to accept if not support filtering software. ---

I have to agree with Miller here. What’s the effing point? Which library do you work at KneadToKnow? I’ve been to 3 of the PLCMC libraries and they all seemed pretty classy, especially the one uptown. Didn’t expect this kind of stuff out of any of them. ---

What sort of network have you got there? Do you have admin privileges? Nothing like a message window that says “Did you know that people who look at pornography in public buildings are 30% more likely to die alone and unloved?” to discourage that sort of thing. ---

Why do you get pleasure from this? I mean, in less he actually…takes it out, or in some other way disturbs his fellow patrons, what’s wrong with him making use of the facilities as he sees fit? Let the poor guy alone! ---

I am assuming there is some library policy in place which prohibits porn viewing on public computers. Otherwise, I’m sure that KneadToKnow would have better things to do with his/her time. I personally don’t feel sympathy for these people. They know ahead of time that there’s a policy which does not allow porn viewing in the library. They know they shouldn’t be viewing it there. So what if librarian doesn’t let 'em get away with it? Boo hoo hoo. ---

And some libraries restrict the “personal” use of computers if someone else needs them for research - you can get pushed aside if you’re just reading e-mail/boards/surfing for pr0n. Plus some public libraries might not think it’s cool for you to be putting huge close-ups of various sex acts on computers when little kids/little old ladies with weak hearts might be walking by. Or to be fiddling with Mr. Happy in the process. Thus people looking at nudie pics tend to get a lot of scrutiny from the workers there. ---

Like I said, the only reason I can think of is if it bothers some other patron. And here this guy is trying to be discrete and here’s KneadTo going out of his/her way to “monitor” him.
