A movie came out recently called [dreams from my real father](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2379807/) which purports that Obama’s real father is a communist named Frank Marshall Davis and not Barack Hussein Obama I. The documentary makes a lot of baseless claims, but it was sent out to something like [4 million](http://www.theblaze.com/stories/filmmaker-mails-over-4-million-copies-of-controversial-obama-documentary-to-swing-state-voters/)people in swing states. So I went online to see a counter point, and the only one I could find was by the free republic. And they tore the movie apart. ha. They were the foc... I am skimming/reading a book on politics and psychology lately, and they claim that liberals are more drawn to novelty while conservatives prefer certainty. As a result some conservatives will believe whatever they want to believe, as long as it verifies what they want to believe. So I don’t expect fact checkers to make a difference on the issue. However I’m glad the free republic took the lead to bring down this bit of birtherism. ---

You can’t possibly be serious with this. This is a disinformation campaign, since it’s so far from any semblance to reality that it is designed to plant nonsense into the heads of people who don’t take the time to research it. Yes, one poster named barackryphal has been doing a series against the film. So what? If you want to evaluate Free Republic then looking at the OP means absolutely nothing, in the same way that a 9/11 Truther or a Moon Hoaxer is perfectly free to post here at the Dope, only to get immediately and thoroughly shot down. What happens at Free Republic? Look at the thread you linked to. There are exactly three comments, two of which mock barackryphal. That’s some amazing level of approval for a counter story, that is. What happens if you do an actual search on Free Republic? Well, you encounter [this thread](http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2925041/posts), with 18 comments screaming approval of the “brilliant” film. Or [this thread](http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2938154/posts) with 42 comments about Obama feeding us the “communist lie.” Or maybe [this thread](http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2937606/posts) where a critical comment on the film is posted and then 33 people slam Obama’s mother. Free Republic is the Roman mob of birtherism. A few people there do post that it is a diversion away from serious conservatism, but they are drowned out by the hordes screaming about 0bummer and his whore mother. If you can believe that the Freepers have come out against Dreams of My Real Father, the movie or [the book](http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2899637/posts), then we have a nice padded cell for you to lie down in. ---
