I have searched my house high and low. I’ve looked everywhere. I’ve even done all my laundry so that the floor in my room is completely devoid of mess. I’ve lost my boyfriend’s digital camera. ☹ It was a really cool camera, too. He used it to take pictures when he had shows, and whenever we’re just out and about. I used it a lot to send pictures back home, so that people know I’m still alive. And now it’s gone. Monday we went to Ocean City. I packed it in my bookbag the night before, because we were going to stay at a friend’s house and leave early. Well, we ended up coming home, and leaving from our house. I had left my bookbag in my roomie’s car, so I went out and got it. I took out the clothes that I planned on wearing, and put them on. I emptied the bookbag, and threw a book in it. Then we left. I haven’t seen the camera since. I didn’t re-pack it, because the boyfriend said it didn’t matter if we took it. I’ve searched the roomie’s car, the house, my car, our room, everywhere. And it’s gone. And no one was in the roomie’s car between trips, so I know no one took it. I feel like crap. This was the first cool thing that the Boyfriend owned, that he bought strictly for himself. It was a really nice camera, and cost about $300. I don’t have $300 to replace it, as I can barely afford my bills here. I told the Boyfriend what happened, and he said, ‘well, if it’s gone, it’s gone’, but I feel like a complete ass. What am I going to do? ---

okay, okay, deep breath. in, out. now check in the refridgerator. if that doesn’t work you must trick it. i usually start to straighten/neaten/clean the room the object disappeared in. that way the object doesn’t realize you are looking for it and will suddenly reappear in a place you looked 20 million times already. good luck. ---

I think we’ve written it off. At least, he has. I still feel like a putz, though. The first place I checked, oddly enough, was the freezer. (Why not?) We’ve decided that it must have fallen out of my bookbag somewhere between the house and the car, and someone picked it up. (Our neighborhood is full of kids; I’m sure one of them is having a grand old time with it now.) I have incredibly bad timing, as we are going to Charleston, SC tomorrow, and I really wanted to have the camera to take pictures of home. Oh well. ☹ ---

Short term answer: Disposable cameras take surprisingly good pictures and [Snapfish.com](http://Snapfish.com) will develop them & post scans of them for download via PC. So you’re not out of business. Second, as nice as he’s being, Skerri, you still owe him one nice camera. Start saving now…do a Christmas Club account if you have to… but you have a responsibility to get him something to replace it.\* \*He may have replaced it himself by Christmas, but you owe him a Gadget just as good (…and no, clothes Won’t do). ---

Oh God. This reminded me of a Jimmy Buffet concert I went to many moons ago with Ivylad and his two sisters. We got to the door of the arena and found out we couldn’t take in the camera. So Ivylad and I run back to where the car was parked, in a Burger King parking lot. When we got there we realize we didn’t have the keys, so instead of running back to get them and then back to the car, we stashed the camera high up under the wheel well, thinking no one would find it there. The concert was a blast, we come back to the parking lot, singing Cheeseburger in Paradise, and lo and behold, where SIL’s car had been was now an empty parking space. Turned out BK had towed our car, so we had to pay a taxi and bail it out of Car Jail. “Camera? What camera?” the tow guy said. All the way home, Ivylad and his older sister tried to convince his younger sister that she should be the one to tell their father that they lost his camera. ---

Wow, that is really sweet of you, **Encinitas**! And I’ll put the odds at 5:4 that the day after your camera arrives at **Skerri’s** place, the other camera will turn up. There’s nothing to produce a missing item like replacing it! A few years ago we were moving from one house to another in town, and at the last minute a few things got tossed in kind of odd boxes. Including my really nice 35 mm camera that I just loved that went, along with the remote control for my stereo system, into an old VCR box. Papa Tiger decided to get organized and proceeded to dump all kinds of boxes from the garage at the new house. Including those “junky old VCR boxes” that he assumed didn’t have anything in them. To this day he doesn’t believe me that he threw out my camera… ---

Have you tried calling it? I’ve found things by walking around and calling them. “Keeeeys. Oh KEEEEYS. Where ARE you, keys?” Sounds corny as hell, but it works more often than not.
