I don’t have a problem with Bush fucking up an English garden, it’s that other stuff he has done that I don’t like (war, debt etc). ---

Well yes, whichever member of the Palace staff or Blair’s security team directed the Bush helicopter to land in the gardens should be sacked and whipped. Or vice versa. Unnecessary vegetative mayhem saddens me. I just sorta doubt the Presidential chopper veered totally off course and squashed the Queen’s giant hogweed. _“The Americans made alterations to accommodate specialised equipment. The mass of gadgetry meant the Royals couldn’t get a decent TV picture during the visit.”_ Christ on a crutch, the free world is careening into the abyss, and the British tabloid press is _still_ going on about the Queen’s telly! Was there no gallant man who would volunteer to take the poor woman to the cinema?? ---

Yes, the chef thing is what really made my jaw drop. I mean, if its true, he brought his own chefs. To a frikkin _palace!_ I don’t know who decided that didn’t look like a studied insult. ---

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t just think Bush is a bad president, I think he is the worst president we have ever had. However, is this story true? Also, they knew he was bringing the helicopters. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out a better place to land. Also, I’m sure the Queen and Prince Phillip were trying to watch Queer Eye. ---

Well, the problem is just because somebody is qualified, ready, able, and willing to vote doesn’t mean that they’ll be allowed to vote. Plus, these days, just because somebody votes doesn’t mean it gets counted. There seem to be more and more electronic voting machines, and more and more evidence that they are unreliable. ---

Please don’t tell anyone I was defending Bush et. al. on a message board, but… It sounds like the chef and cooks are part of his standard entourage, and were not specific to this visit. (It may have been a larger team than usual, since this entourage appears to be larger.) This only makes sense; when you routinely travel with that many people, you need a plan in place to feed them without excess stress on the locals. I’m sure Buckingham Palace was perfectly able to crank out meals for everybody, but if he’s speaking in East Asscrack, the local mom-and-pop diner is not going to be able to handle it. Dr. J ---

Well, the thing about this- about about Bush’s methods in general, lately- is that no one seems capable of thinking ahead. With proper notice and planning, there would be no reason to insult anyone. Bring the damn chefs but leave them in the hotel for the Buckingham palace dinners- how hard is that? I highly regard the ability to leave a good impression on a host/hostess, and the effort (yes, and forethought) that this entails. I feel like Bush needs to appoint a “Secretary of Social Grace”. ---
