I sit corrected, jjimm, although I still contend that the OUTSIDE flower beds were not The Nasty Yanks. This does sound too weird, though, that the helos and the Secret Service would deliberately ruin prize roses. Are there any pictures, any collaboration outside a couple of left-wing tabloids? ---

Unless her Maj is complaining about the ones on the other side of the roundabout that were probably squashed by protesters. But yeah, I don’t doubt that the tabloids are at best exaggerating. ---

Another questions for the pilots among us: Wouldn’t an experienced pilot know how to land without damaging an aging tree? Is that routine in helicopter landings? Are the helos the Royal Family uses much smaller? ---

Ireland feels a very close connection with the States and is very pro-US. Clinton loves it over here. He’s bought 2 houses on or around golf courses IIRC. He was majorly involved in the peace process and seemed to really give a shit about Ireland. Bush would be dodging protests over here. Yes he would have lots of people who were happy to meet him but nothing like all who came before. This isn’t a anti-US thing it’s a anti Bush/Admin thing. Most British (I’m guessing you really mean English) food bashers have never been there and tried any. Most of those that have been there probably stayed at a cheap hotel near Victoria Station and sampled soggy fish and chips at some nasty joint in the Strand operated by a Pakistani. Of COURSE there’s bad English food. There’s plenty of bad American food, too. Those of us who can tell the difference try to avoid the bad. I’ve had DREADFUL food in Paris, for example. The very home of the word cuisine. As far as President Bush is concerned, why all the whining? I agree with Saint Zero. You don’t like him, vote for someone else. Just please stop bitching about how he “stole” the election in 2000. I think the case was examined and decided on by the Supreme Court. Are we saying they’re all Bush lackeys? I don’t think so.
