Yes, I’m aware that American food consists of more than the above mentioned junk food. I just get heartily sick of people not realising that British food consists of more than curry and fish and chips. We have some of the finest chefs and best restaurants in the world. Frankly, I couldn’t give a toss about Bush if you could guys could only find some way of confining his monumental fuck-ups to your own country, and as a republican (in the anti-royal sense) I care even less about the queen, but it seems to me that taking your own chefs to someone else’s home to cook for you is a studied insult in any circumstances. ---

perhaps i’m the only Gardener her, But I’ve Cultivated bonsai trees for over 8 yrs now… Some of my trees, however are older than me. As for someone caring to a garden as old as the one at Buckingham. I’d be in a towering fit if someone did that kind of damage to it. FYI Plants ARE replaceable, howver long cultivated and sculpted plants are NOT. For anyone Who is concerned with price, The Bonsai at the national Arboretum are insured for over a million dollars apiece. ---

Uh, barbeque (the word and the technique) comes from the West Indies, and was adopted as an english word in the 17th century – and Cajun cuisine came to Louisiana by way of Nova Scotia. You get to keep American Cheese, though. ---

There’s nothing wrong with sharing your feelings and fears, but you were trying to manipulate other people’s feelings in an attempt to get them to agree with your opinions and fears, as opposed to giving legitimate reasons for people to do so. And in case you missed it I agree that the war is unjustified (and illegal for that matter), I was taking issue with the way that you were trying to get people to agree with that point of view.
