We are all glad nothing ghastly happened to Gozu but some of us care that ghastly things have been inflicted on others in the same situation while some think it is OK to abuse them because they are, after all, foreigners. We talked about it in [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=151537&perpage=50&pagenumber=1). where I posted a link to [this photo](http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/admin/article/largerphoto?contentId=A14820-2002Dec19&thisnode=nation/specials/attacked) of distraught parents whose son was facing deportation. To me that picture is worth one thousand words. ---

----How ironic that in 2003, the same advice applies in the US. I wonder how many years it will take to undo the damage that the current regime is doing to human rights and the world opinion of the USA (former bastion of freedom).---- Frankly, INS has never been an institution enforcing this “freedom” issue. If they find your visa papers in questionable condition they will go ahead and imprison you first, then might try to sort things out… And it is not their responsibility to notify families and friends… -----You could demand that tourists first submit an itinerary with every hotel they will stay in and make them report to police in every town they arrive in. Yes, the US could do that and it would be within its rights. ------ Hmmm… Sounds familiar… Soviet Union used to do that…within its rights… ---

Not allowing food in an office building is a security measure? How about a basic good manners measure for people who are so rude and have such poor manners they can’t tell the difference between a business place and an amusement park? Food does not belong in a business place. ---
