I’m pushing 70, but it hit me today how really old I am when I heard a song on the radio that went, “If the world was ending, you’d come over, right? You’d come over and you’d stay the night.” And all I could think was, no, I’d run out and buy a large pizza and a gallon of ice cream, and stuff myself. ---

Two of my coworkers were talking about zombie movies and the end of the world and so forth. They started asking everyone what they would do if we knew that the world would end soon. One guy answered “I would f\*\*k anything that moves!” Then, it was my turn to answer… and I said, “I would try to stand perfectly still.” I think it must’ve been a line from a movie or some such, because it popped immediately into my mind, but I am unable to give a citation. ---

So I was told by someone who turned 70. I’ve known him for decades: more than an acquaintance, but not quite a friend. He sure does like using his age as an excuse for being impatient, short tempered, narrow and incurious. He was always that way, now there’s a good reason for it in his eyes. ---
