I am out of Hard Drive Space

I disagree with beowulff. It’s not just a matter of buying another. With laptops you need to pay attention to the power required and the heat the drive generates.

Nope.
All current 2.5" SATA drives will work.

If you know of one that won’t, please post it.

Not necessarily true: if a drive generates more heat than the laptop can dissipate then it will damage the laptop; if it requires more power than the laptop can provide then at best the battery life will be significantly reduced.

You need to check.

Believe me, all current drives will work. And, just what specs do you think you are going to find - Apple doesn’t publish them anywhere.

Have you ever thought about online backups?

No I live in an area with poor internet connections.

If you look at the hard drive itself, you can get the make and model and then look up the details on the manufacturer’s website.

That’s sort of meaningless, isn’t it? Apple supplies different sized drives from different manufacturers at different times. Do you mean to imply that the only replacement drive that will work is one that has the exact same specifications as the one you are replacing?

I’ve been doing this for a long, long time. Any current 2.5" SATA drive will work in a MacBook. There may be slight battery life differences, but, as an example, when I replaced my stock 5400 RPM drive with a much bigger 7200 RPM drive, the battery life actually went UP.
