This ad is really getting on my nerves…it is on constantly! I am really getting to hate “Start Me Up” by Mick Jagger…anybody know how I can express my displeasure to Ford? This is frikkin torture!🆒 ---

I don’t know that one, but the “Like a Rock” Chevy commercials are pushing me to my breaking point. ---

How could they possibly be worse than that hillbilly blurting “I’m a Ford truck mayn – THAT’S ALL I DRIIII-YEEEEEEVE!!!” I think they’ve been cranking that out for like 2 years straight now. ---

I am sick of all ads. That anyone doesn’t find the idea of seeing the same 3 minute unrealistic deeply patronising (in that it assumes we cannot make up our own mind about whether or not a product is worth having) 20 times or more intensely stupid amazes me. (believe me - that paragraph is gramatically correct!) ---

I don’t know if _I_ was “the one” responsible or not, but I wrote Subway about the stupid cut of the bread in their sandwiches. They used to take and cut a useless little wedge out of the top of the mini-loaf, then load in the ingredients and then put the little wedge back on top, making for a disasterous mess when one’s trying to drive and eat. Anyway!, I wrote to the main headquarters of Subway, at least as they were listed online, and wrote them a letter of complaint. About a month later, all sandwiches were being cut like “normal bread”. So, I’m thinking that my letter, along with all of the other letters and “How Are We Doing” notes from other similarly annoyed customers , probably did the trick. As a teen, I once wrote a candy company (whoever makes 100,000 dollar bars) about a bag of candy that tasted strange, as if it had gotten machine oil in it or something. A few weeks later, I had a written apology and about 25 dollars worth of coupons for free candy. Hey, maybe you’re not the only one?! It can’t hurt to try. ---

Come on. “Like a Rock” has to be 10 times more annoying, if only because unlike other companies that like to change up their slogans/promotions every so often, apparently Chevy has decided to use this song to sell trucks until the end of time. ---

I like the Ford commercial where the weight of a boat and trailer pull a Chevy truck into the lake. A Ford belonging to the guy in the next ramp is able to pull them out. The Chevy owner’s wife says, “That sure sank.” The Ford owner mutters, “_Like a rock_.” ---

Some people were quite upset that Subway quit using the [canoe cut](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=95469&highlight=canoe) method of slicing their bread. ---

Yes, and my daughter was one of them! She gave me a devil of a hard time. Apparently some people enjoy having the ingredients of their sandwiches fall all over their laps when they drive? Look, when you bake bread at home, how do you slice it? Hmmmmmmmmm? do you take a teensy little wedge out of the top? NO! Do loaves of bread from Safeway come this way? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a truck commercial in my life. The closest I’ve come to it is seeing a transit van commercial. (‘backbone of britain’ type thing) ---
