This is so very sad. I thought it was a joke at first. Those of you who know me, know that I am Christian. But this is horrible. And I feel so sad for the boy. And the mother just allows this? How? That superintendent says, “I smacked that boy so hard, I dented my wedding ring.” He should be thrown in jail. And they seem proud of themselves! Landover Baptist is easily the best satire site on the net because everything is so believeable. Don’t feel bad, I’ve seen many many people think that it’s real. ---

Whoa! I feel so much better. As I was reading the site, I was wondering. The thing is, I’ve known too many people like that, so I couldn’t figure out if this was real or not. There are people who would go along with the viewpoints that are being mocked here, so I figured this was their website! Glad to be wrong. ---

The scary thing is that, though Landover’s material _is_ clearly outrageous, it’s hard for many first-timers to tell that it’s satire. That says a lot about certain real-life fanatics. Just wait until they put up their Halloween “Hell-house” material (if they haven’t already). I guarantee you the actual Hell-houses where I live will be just as outrageous, if not more so. ---

The Landover Baptist site was such an OBVIOUS joke, such a ridiculous broad satire, I can’t help laughing at the OP, who took it seriously. Apparently, some secular liberals are so willing to believe that Christians are psychotic sadists, they completely lose their sense of humor, and are ready to believe ANY charge against them, however ludicrous. No, Landover Baptist is not a real church. And, since I’m sure the OP will ask in the future… 1. Spinal Tap isn’t a real rock group. 2. Frank Drebbin isn’t a real cop. 3. Father Guido Sarducci isn’t a real priest. ---

When you have nutjobs like Fred Phelps in this world, sometimes you _expect_ to find things like this. Geez, **astorian** , self-righteous much? It took me a while to be _sure_ that Landover Baptist was a satire, even though I thought it was the very first time I saw it. Obviously I’m not the only one. Why? Because, contrary to your smug little view of the world, there ARE Christians like that, and quite a few of them in some parts of our lovely little nation. I know - I live in one. According to your profile, you’re fairly nearby - so you’re either self-blindered by your hypocritical arrogance or you’re intentionally being a jerk. Are all Christians like that? No, they’re not, as I’ve come to realize by interacting with some who are not. However, some Christians ARE self-righteous, smug assholes. Q.E.D. ---

Which part of this quote from me did you misunderstand? And which part of the OP did you not understand about me being Christian? Having grown up in the Bible belt, with extreme fundie Southern Baptists, I have actually witnessed this type of behavior. So, before you judge someone else’s misunderstanding, I would suggest that you go out and experience the real world and how some people may give themselves a title but not necessarily live up to it. ---
