I used to see comments from folks like **Blackbirdxx** and think they just didn’t realize they’re being as bigoted as people who complained about the “uppity niggers” who should just be glad for what little they had. I thought that if someone pointed out the parallels to them, they’d have an epiphany and magically lose their bigotry. Now I realize the truth, that they not only know they are bigoted, they’re often proud of it somehow. Maybe an epiphany is still possible for them, but it’s likely not going to come from them reading text on a message board. It takes a real-life incident, like a gay man pulling them out of a burning car or something like that. ---
