I do that all the time because I tend to miss threads as they get started - I don’t spend all my time hear, after all. I just thought an outsider’s opinion might be valuable, since everyone was acting like a bunch of silly 9 year olds. It does get melodramatic in here sometimes. I don’t want Tech to leave, I don’t think anyone does. I hope she will re-think leaving, she adds so much to the board and to chat. If she decides to leave and stay gone, the board will be a much poorer place for the loss. But I do think it is a bit beyond silly to cuss at people because they refuse to go to her with any problem they have with Silo, as some folks have done here. I have no problem with him at this point, but if a problem does arise in the future I will handle it myself. That is they way I do things. If one of those fuck yous was for me, because I won’t do that, fine. But I am not going to change the way I am for someone else. It’s not a good habit to get into. ---

Having seen everything here and knowing chat like I do (and knowing the people involved like In do) here is the scorecard as I’ve seen it. Techchick: You overreated here. Obviously you were not kicked and banned. Then you compounded matters by letting what you perceive as a threat to your friend get in the way of you here. I hope you’re okay, Techie, because this is all unlike you. VogueVixen: Banning someone because you “don’t like them” is pitiful, especially since you have an “/ignore” feature at your disposal. And while the “threat” may or may not have happened, as you worded it, it was NOT a threat which would hold up anywhere. An asshole neighbor told me he was going to “kick my ass,” and the local authorities said this was insufficient to be considered a threat. So whether he did or dod not say to you what you said he did, in and of itself, it’s hardly a threat. I don’t care WHO doesn’t like Silo (or anyone else) - To take it upon yourself to ban someone is arrogant beyond belief. Silo: If someone does not like you, ignore them. You’re not an idiot. If someone doesn’t like you, you can figure this out. Not everyone gets you. I think I do, and I have no problem with you. But as you well know, there are people here who do not get or like _ME_ very much. I ignore them. You should do the same, here or in chat. While all of the people above, had they followed my advice would have individually been able to prevent this bullshit, there is one simple thing which sucks, but I think needs to be done to prevent shit like this in the future. Opalcat/Bot Folks: I would suggest that you take away open ops for everyone from now on, and just give it to a few chat regulars who you really trust not to abuse that responsibility, such as Jophiel and Falcon and anyone else you deem appropriate. As much as ops are fun, NONE OF THIS would have happened if we didn’t have them, at least as easily as we do now. We don’t need ops to chat. And most chat rooms don’t give ops out like we do. We have to face facts here: We’re not mature enough to handle the perks that ops gives us. ---

I’ve ALWAYS wanted a limited number of ops, but no one else seemed to want it that way, so we went with majority rule. I think having one or two ops is enough at any given time. Another reason for this is that newbies entering a room where everyone has ops feel very intimidated. ---

Freak - No ops = no kickbans. You can only kick someone if you have ops. As sad as I am to admit it, I agree with Satan. I came from IRC channels where we all were opped always, so I was used to people being mature enough to handle it. Of course, we were on a small private server, so we pretty much knew everyone anyway. However, I don’t see the policy we have now changing, since people are used to it. _shrug_ ---

Granted, I wasn’t there when the shit hit the fan the other night, but I’ve been there ever since…apparently I missed it by only a short time, and I know how Silo has been acting in there. ---

It’s not like the subject said “Only people in chat the other night when shit happened should read this and post to it!!” and not like that would make any fucking difference anyway! I understand that t.c. wanted people to know what had happened and what was continuing to happen but she has to understand that people are going to respond to that. I also understand that while this particular incident happened in chat, many chat people also post here so the board is a good place to discuss things. However, it is not read and participated in by _only_ chat people. The rest of us know the posters involved and have had dealings with them in the past here on the board–sometimes even similar experiences that happen in chat. It is very difficult to read an entire fucking thread about posters we interact with on a daily basis, posters we enjoy posting with and not be interested/frustrated/intrigued by what is being said. Even t.c. said that this thread was no longer about her getting kicked from chat–it is about Silo. Many people here who do not chat _do_ interact with Silo and know what he is like. Some of us like him and others don’t. So when there is a thread where several posters are commenting on whether or not they like Silo and the things he says, people here will post. I realize t.c. is very upset and her perspective is a little off right now but the above attack on pepperlandgirl is completely wrong and t.c. should be ashamed. t.c came to the message board, hung her dirty laundry out to dry and then fucking slaughtered someone for daring to say the laundry stinks. pepperlandgirl may not have been in chat when the “events” happened but hey, here’s a fucking news bulletin– **we are not in chat!!!** I don’t care that people who do go to chat discuss it here. I **do** care when they come here and expect to privately discuss their little squabbles on a public board. Since t.c. is so eager for people to e-mail her and yet so childish when people respond to her rant why did she not just type out the OP as a little rant and e-mail it to the select few she deemed worthy enough to comment on it? That could have saved everyone some trouble–like pepperlandgirl being viciously attacked for posting her opinion in (gasp!) a fucking Pit thread! I understand t.c. being sensitive about Silo. She **knows** he is a good guy at heart but no one is giving him a chance. I had the exact same problem with OgreFade/TheUrge/Oscar for a while. However, if people had a problem with Oscar, they were free to discuss it with him. I would have never dreamed of saying, “Look, if you don’t like OgreFade, just tell me. _I_ happen to like him so maybe I can help.” I _wanted_ to do just that but I know that this board is composed of adults with their own thoughts and opinions and who the hell am I to tell them who they should like and not like? I am sorry that techchick is leaving the board in general and I hope she comes back soon when things settle down in her life. But please let it be then and only then because we do not need over-the-top comments like the one above–even in the Pit. ---
