Dear Tigger: This is called “me taking a shower”. You should be somewhat used to it by now; it’s a daily occurence, as it has been for the past several years that you’ve been living with me. There is no need for you to peer into the bathroom with a worried expression on your little furry face and make plaintive noises like I’d just announced I’m taking you over to where I used to live and dumping you back on the parking lot. It’s just how I get clean, the equivalent of when you lick your fur. I am not going to take you to the vet. I am not going to make _you_ take a shower. I have not decided to commit suicide by drowning. In fact, I rather enjoy the process of showering, rather as I suppose you must enjoy the process of grooming yourself. (Actually, I have seen rather noticeable evidence that you enjoy grooming a certain part of yourself considerably more than I enjoy taking a shower, or at least taking a shower by myself, but we won’t go there.) So calm down. And you will have plenty of opportunity to rub up against me and head-butt me and make me smell the way you think I should smell and see to it that I have a proper coating of cat hair afterwards. ---

Does anyone else’s cat try to climb into the shower with them while they’re toweling off? Eponine does this and then gets all pissy when rubbing against my wet ankles gets her fur wet. Somehow it’s suddenly my fault. ---

When I’m drying off, two of my cats are standing on the edge of the tub, trying to dring any drops of water that might be dripping from the tub tap. Seems they’d much rather drink water fresh from the tap than water that’s been sitting around in a dish since yesterday. I can’t say I blame them terribly. ---

My three cats take turns licking up any puddles in the tub as I am drying off. Sometimes it’s so crowded in there I have trouble climbing out. ---

Fido doesn’t really care. But she does act as though she expects me to feed her before I shower, rather than after. Doesn’t happen, though. hey, I’m the one with the thumbs, okay? ---

My brother and his wife had a kitten that used to climb into the shower with them and play under the spray. They said it sould be rather disconcerting to turn around in the shower and suddenly realize they had company in there! ---

Buddy the beagle pokes his head in the shower and then sneezes when the water sprays him in the face. When he was a puppy he did this because he was afraid if I left him alone. I have no idea why continues to do this. ---

Phyllis the springer spaniel’s favorite beverage is bathwater. She especially likes my fruity bubble baths. Sometimes I think I should add a little paper umbrella! ---

I had a ferret that liked to come into the shower stall. She’d then start hopping around all insane like (the way ferrets do) and back herself into the corner and make little hissing sounds. It was quite hilarious. She seemed HIGHLY offended that she was getting wet, but she came in all the time anyway. ---

The sink in the half-bath off the kitchen needs a new washer and consequently is already dripping, but the cats can’t (or won’t) jump up that high. ---

When I shower my cat Dagny has the habit of jumping from the counter onto the top of the shower door to make sure I am ok. That much water is a hazzard, ya know? Anyway, I am waiting for the day Dagny over shoots the shower door. That should be a lot of fun. Slee ---

Weeeelllll, our moggie likes to wait outside the dunny door while we complete our _ahem_ ‘ablutions’, then bolts in as we finish to inspect the contents (or by then, lack of) in the bowl. Very weird and very disturbing sometimes!! 😕 ---

**RTFirefly** -don’t you occassionally change their water? We do it a couple times a day. But Buffy and Misty still lick the tub drain. Misty likes to be in the bathroom while someone is taking a shower. She’ll sit on the back of the toilet, and then when you get out she starts crying. ---
