I’d googled “newcrasher”, and the only non-graphic-filename hit was a post on a message board in 1998 by someone named “Jayson” with a [newcrasher@aol.com](mailto:newcrasher@aol.com) email address. This post was something like six years go. Googling for famous Jaysons led to Jayson Blair, Jayson Stark, and Jayson Williams, and the latter two were excused by their professions (sports writer, athlete). Another google confirmed Jayson Blair lived recently in the state newcrasher had said he lived in. So I put in my answer. After my answer was shot down in that way, I decided that I probably got his first name right based on that ancient message, and that’s all. Fame without notoriety? Either he’s not famous, or he’s famous in a “he’s the guy who…” sort of way where nobody would recognize his name anyway. Yesterday I wasted some time researching his old posts here on the SDMB, and was unable to derive his surname. So that’s it. ---

I read Jayson Williams’ book and thought it was pretty funny. Isn’t he now more famous as an accused murderer? ---

It is kind of transparent. If it is indeed Mr. Blair, it surely fits in with the hash he made of what might have been a career in journalism. Almost all print journalists toil in anonymity ( unlike their broadcast counterparts ). His craving for the spotlight is fairly well documented. He lied for a long time to try to gain fame, and it cost him heavily. It would not surprise me, based on the tone of the OP’ers posts in here, if he turned out to be Mr. Blair. Kind of a yawn, yanno? ---
