For the record, and I have said this before, it is my opinion, as a person with experience being mentally ill, that my wife is clinically depressed and would not have destroyed her heart and kidneys had she not ON HER OWN and by her own volition stopped treating her diabetes. I have tried to seek help for her, but she lies to her caregivers. ---

Case in point: When in the ER because a wound on her foot wouldn’t heal, the doctor asked, “How long have on been treated for diabetes?” Her reply was, “Diabetes? I had gestational diabetes with the kids, but not since then.” He had her fucking chart. Same hospital, same organization. She’d been treated for it for years, but stopped. Don’t know why, but I think she’s trying to kill herself. And all I can do is watch and complain. I know nothing. She’s all medical and I’m just a telemarketer. It kills me. ---

I know someone who seemed to be in terrible condition, barely able to walk or speak, when she did speak it was a child-like voice. One specialist after another saw her, diagnosed some possible causes such as an infected tooth, and one by one all treatments were unsuccessful. One doctor looking for neurological problems suggested the problem was psychological. Everyone who knew her said “Duh! Do you think?”. After some counciling and medications she’s acting normal again, what was normal for her anyway. Very nice person, not what you’d call industrious in any sense though. But even she sought treatment and followed through. You’ve got a real prize-winner there **dropzone** , I get the feeling you keep trying to do the right thing and getting the inevitable ‘reward’ for such attempts. Sorry to hear it bud. ---

Sounds like a combo of both my exes. The first one apparently had a “disease” which required him to walk with a cane, and couldn’t walk more than 50 feet without needing to sit down to rest. The last one spent two hours walking around stores to see which deals were best and whether he could get a better deal some place else. I have mobility issues myself, but I do not want to spend two hours just walking around basically getting nothing done! ---

A new person at work just got canned for complaining about how slow I do some things. When the manager explained about my bad hand and said “She can’t do them any faster,” the idiot replied “Yes she can” and went into a rant about how I was “faking” the whole thing. Out on your ass, sweetie. ---

I’ve got this same situation going on with my MIL. I wish I had some sage advice, but the reality is that it’s a no win situation. Unfortunately, you have little to no power. ---
