Have I said for a while how much I love this place? It is by far the most entertaining place, and second only to the library of my childhood, the most educational place I’ve ever hung out. Ah, the heady rush of being quoted and responded to, and reading the the brilliant insanities that far out-insane me. It is also the most intellectually stimulating community I’ve ever been a part of, where I don’t feel like a cypher and an alien species. Which is kinda ironic because I literally AM a cypher here, as we are all – an ocean of ones and zeros flickering madly about in a place that is made of wires and magnetic fields. Oh, yes, and the tubes, let’s not forget the internet tubes. I am a much funnier and relaxed person in RL than I used to be as well. Sometimes I think it’s because I get my crazy thoughts out safely here, but at least partly ecause I am more comfortable expressing my crazy thoughts in RL than I used to be. The sparring and one-upsmanship we practice here really pays off elsewhere. The CEO of my company passed me in the hall the other day and asked, “What were you smoking when you wrote that sentence?”. I was actually quick enought to say, without fear, “Coulda been anything, probably paint chips or banana peels.” He just broke out in laughter – I never wouldn’t have the guts to say something like that 5 years ago, and probably not even to think of it in time in any case. This place connects my neurons in strange ways, what can I say? ---

I had another radio interview today, and found a chance to mention the Dope. It will air next week on WUWM, public radio in Milwaukee, a show called “The Lake Effect.” Probably Tuesday evening, but they’re not sure and will let me know. I had a chance to mention the SDMB as a place where I and many others post and work on our writing skills – I’m not entirely certain what all I said, but they have promised me an MP3 copy. ---
