This afternoon at 3:35 my daughter brough forth her first baby, making me a grandparent for the first time! w00t 🆒 She started young. I’m only 45, but it feels pretty cool to be a grandparent already. My kids have always called me Baba. While in Hindustani _Baba_ means father, in Uzbek it means grandfather; in Russian it means **woman** (and grandmother: _babushka_). So no matter in what role you think of me, I’m covered. I’m still Baba. I went and held my tiny grandson, who was still processing the fact that he wasn’t amniotically floating any more. I’m thrilled beyond words. It seems like such a miracle. ---

how sweet! I’m kinda looking forward to grandmotherhood, but not till my daughter graduates from college, and marries. Them’s the rules. Non negotiable… (I hope) Congrats to you and yours!! ---

Babies are a miracle, aren’t they? Those teeny fingernails and toenails, those snubby noses. How they get to be like us is beyond me. Congrats on being a grandma! I’ll never be one, as I didn’t have children. but I like being an aunt! ---

Congrats! I found out this weekend that there are 2 babies on their way in my family. My cousins wife, and another cousin’s girlfriend. Yay for babies! ---
