It’s not a town but… There’s a campaign at the moment to rename a local mountain… times have changed since the first white person to encounter the place saw the mountain and said: “That mountain looks just like a Nigger’s Head. I think I’ll call it Mount Niggerhead”. BTW, I am not trying to offend anyone, and this is for real. You can see why they are so determined to change the name of the place. I think they were leaning toward naming it for an indigenous tribe, to make up for the previous name. ---

Not a town, but there is a body of water near me called Great Bottom Flash. And if you have any type of Net Nanny software running, you won’t be able to find Scunthorpe, England. ---

I was very surprised to see a Felchville, VT. Someone called up to ask me where Fletcher is, I looked on the town listing and nearly fell down laughing. I’m glad that I don’t _live_ there! ---

I’ll be in da UP for two weeks in August. Anyone up for a Doper trip to Felch? If not, I guess it’ll be just me and Mr. Athena, drinkin’ ourselves silly in the Felch bar. (On an aside, the nice thing about the UP is that you can count on there being at least one bar in every town. I’ve never been to Felch, but I know for certain we can get a drink there.) ---

It’s about 35 miles southeast of Rutland, near Brownsville, Cavendish and the Ascutney Mountain Resort. ---
