How is that any different from any other time? Their President is a known Holocaust denier, so this is pretty much par for the course. What, do they think we’re going to burn their embassies? :rolleyes: ---

WTF does the holocaust have to do with caricatures of the prophet Mohammad? One was a historical atrocity, the other is a jab at a religious figure. If they wanted to do this on equal footing they’d have done some cartoons of Jesus or something. ---

Despite its many denials Iran, with its nascent cartoon enrichment program, is clearly on the road to obtaining drawings of mass destruction within the next few years. I can only hope that the UN for once acts decisively on this urgent crisis. Given Israel’s supposedly secret but well-documented strategic satire delivery systems, I am gravely concerned that we are heading for a confrontation that will make the battle between Judge Doom and Toontown look like, well, a Froot Loops cereal commercial. And for those of you who will inevitably point out that many other countries already possess a similar capability, and that only one, the USA, has ever actually used it, I remind you that that was a different time. We were in a state of total war, and the relentless drawing of buck-toothed, squinty-eyed “Japs”, although inhumane by today’s standards, was considered at the time to be our best chance to bring that horrifying conflict to an early conclusion. ---

They don’t have much to do with each other; they’re just _very_ sacred cows, depending on which crowd you’re in. Like going up to Pat Robertson and asking him why Jesus can’t eat M&Ms. In re the OP: Meh. It’s childish and intentionally provocative, like those “test cases” who will burn a flag the second a law banning flag burning is passed. The exercise in free speech has merits but they’re just doing it for the wrong reasons. I’m just not getting worked up about it.
