Blood everywhere! Who knew that a 2mm wound on a paw could bleed so much. As an example, look at these [pictures](https://www.thedodo.com/close-to-home/kitten-paints-entire-house) (scroll down) and replace the white paint with blood. I went through 2 entire spray bottles of eco-88 trying to clean the carpet but unfortunately, it just removed the protein and left the iron stains. If anyone has suggestions for removing the residual staining, I would certainly prefer that to replacing the carpet. The wood floors at least can be cleaned. What about the cat, you ask? He’s already been to the vet multiple times, had 3 course of antibiotics for a presumed infection and had a dermatology consult. According to the vet, the only remaining option is to amputate his toe. (He has had several episodes of bleeding a little, but this was much worse). It doesn’t seem to bother him though. He doesn’t limp or favor the paw. He uses the scratching post equally with both paws. He just WILL NOT stop bleeding. ---

Soak the blood stains with peroxide, that works really well. Might change the color of the carpet some but that’s already a done deal so can’t get much worse, right? ---

If you can’t get the stains out, check with your insurance company. I had a relative who tripped and hit his head. He was fine after being bandaged up at the ER, but the carpet was a mess. Had it professionally cleaned and everything, but no luck. His homeowners insurance ended up paying for the entire carpet to be replaced. ---

I think the eco-88 has peroxide. It certainly foams up like it does when it contacts blood. ---

Well, I can’t seem to find an ingredient list for Eco-88 anywhere so while it might foam up there’s no definitive evidence it has peroxide in it, whereas we know a bottle marked “hydrogen peroxide” definitely does so I’d give it a whirl. ---

Oxy-clean. Or similar. Yep, them paws bleed. I recently stepped on my Yorkies foot and broke her toenail off. She bled like stabbing victim. ---

Years ago while we were out my dog cut the end of her tail. Came home and it looked like a vicious knife fight had gone on in the kitchen with blood sprayed up the walls. ---

Vitamin C will remove many iron stains. Get a bottle of Vitamin C tablets, dissolve a few in a cup of warm water and apply to the stain. Might work and probably won’t hurt. ---
