I actually have a term for watching a horrible movie all the way through. I’ve even got other people using this term. **Surviving the Game**.

Many years ago, I started watching this gem late at night. I had a few important things to do in the morning and really needed to get to bed…but, this movie was just so horrible, I had to see how it ended. Didn’t get to sleep until 2am.
Check out this classic with Ice T, Rutger Hauer, F. Murray Abraham, Charles Dutton, Dr. Cox and Gary Busey!

Oh, and feel free to use the term!

> Granted, I haven’t read the comic book(and here’s where The Comic Book Guys just smirk and say “then you just don’t underSTAND, man!”) but a multi million dollar movie should at least make sense to people who haven’t seen it.

Yeah, that’s where you went wrong (and, to be fair, so did Zack Snyder). The adaptation of Watchmen was essentially a frame-by-frame remake of the comic book, only excluding a lot of the details that flesh the backstory and character motivations out a great deal more.

The Watchmen film is likeable (if not great) if you’ve read the book, but I’d never recommend it to somebody who hasn’t read it.

G-Force.

Just absolutely brutal. The whole thing was played straight. I kept waiting for a joke of some sort, any sort, but it never came. Ugh.

The Spirit.

I rented it from Netflix on Blu-Ray figuring it would be a cool movie to watch in high-def. I was wrong, very, very, so very wrong.

After I finished watching that movie something changed in me… kittens now die when I walk by, grass browns, leaves fall, metal rusts… you get the idea.

Marci X

Extreme Ops

The Core

> I think I saw **Phantom Menace** four times in the theater. I think I didn’t realize just how bad it was until I had the DVD. Now, it’s totally clear to me and I don’t plan to ever sit through it again.

I had pretty much the same experience as you. I think I was just so frickin’ excited about there finally being another Star Wars movie that I convinced myself it was teh awesome. It wasn’t until I’d had some time away from it (after it wasn’t in theaters anymore) and then watched it again on DVD that I started seeing all of it’s many, many flaws.

A few friends and I saw Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights in the theater. I have no idea why we thought this was a good idea, or why we stayed through the whole thing.

**Pulp Fiction**

I will go to my grave not understanding why _anyone_, let alone so many people, think this is a good movie. Boring, stupid, pointless, sick, dumb . . . just a few of the adjectives I can think of to describe it. Two guys talking about what they call a Big Mac in France? Yawn. Oh, they’re actually hit men going to a job? Snore. Look, they got shot and didn’t die; right, no need to ever explain that. Look, there’s Bruce Willis, for no apparent reason. Oh, and John Travolta can dance like Batman; someone shoot me quick. Oooo, stab him with a big needle, oooo, blood all over the backseat . . . How on Earth is this possibly entertaining? I’d get more enjoyment out of stepping in a fresh, steaming pile of dog crap than I did spending two hours watching it in movie form.

The only funny thing about that movie was that I hated it so much I wanted to leave, but thought my wife wanted to see it so I stayed. Meanwhile, my wife hated it so much she wanted to leave, but thought I wanted to see it so she stayed.

> Sorry you feel that way. **Children of Men** was one of my favorite movies of 2006. And with a 92% at Rotten Tomatoes a lot of critics felt the same way.

I also thought it was really good- thought provoking and orginal.

When I was in college, some friends and I thought that a movie with Sean Connery as King Arthur would ROCK. Instead, we sat through all of _First Knight_. All of it… and laughed at all the “serious” bits. Because it sucked…so…bad…

My worst was from a while back.

_Thin Red Line_ My god that is the closest I’ve ever got to walking out of a movie theatre with the movie still running. I was there with a mate, so I sat through but bored out of my skull. After the movie we were talking about and he said he was close to walking out as well. If only once of us had said something :smack:

Just recently my missus has made me sit through on DVD:

_The Knowing_ ☹
and _Australia_ double ☹

terrible terrible movies.

I have now come to fear the question/statement “Will you sit down and watch _this almost certain to be terrible movie_ with me”

Dragonball Evolution, just watched it and would very, very much like a hot metal spike and some bleach. The first 15 minutes are okay if you neglect that it has anything to do with Dragonball, then all of a sudden they fired the writers and started making stuff up, the dialogue became even more unbelievable and plot points just sort of happened with no setup or explanation. By the end with the Oozaru thing I was practically ramming my head against the wall.

The Dark Knight was one of my least favorite movies I’d seen in years. I found it cliched, patronizing, and clumsy. My girlfriend agreed absolutely, and we both walked out of the theater saying we thought it was awful.

I have a hard time convincing people I actually hold this opinion.

I can kind of see that. I enjoyed it but it really felt like a 70s crime thriller that I had ‘seen’ before. It just happened to have a dude with bronchitis dressed as a bat.

**The Squid and the Whale** : Nobody I could give a damn about, all talking in ways that no human being would ever talk (yes, I realize that artificial speech is used very effectively sometimes, but this was not one of those cases), and I can’t even remember much of the story.

I made the mistake of renting another, later movie by the same writer/director, and had to quit it after 30 minutes.
