# I can't deny it anymore. I’m sure that Canada is a lovely place, with many, many things to recommend it; however, the weather is surely not one of them. I could never, ever live there. I HATE the cold weather and am learning to dislike it even more as I age. Give me hot, sunny, laying-naked-by-the-pool weather 364 days (with 1 day of snow). ---

A friend told us a story last week about a military New Year function he attended a couple of years ago. He was chatting with the Russian assistant military attaché, who told him that he had phoned his wife in Moscow earlier. She was complaining about the -20° cold, and he told her it was currently -32° in Ottawa. Her response - “All the important people you know and you get yourself posted to somewhere colder than Moscow?” ---

I couldn’t care less about hockey, down here, where it’s warm. I don’t know what cool cottage country is, but I suspect that we’ve got it down here, too, where it’s warm. And I don’t like pancakes. I can’t deny it anymore either: it’s been winter here for two months. Freaking Lake Michigan. Also, I can’t deny that I’m flying back to NY this afternoon. Hooray for airplanes, condensing the stress of a long trip into just a few agonizing hours. ---
