I can't pay my rent. I'm doomed.

Ditto this. The original thread said ‘finish production’ or something similar, AND help cover his living expenses. Now, GuanoLad is saying ‘finishing production’ is the same as living expenses. (I’m paraphrasing, but the meaning is accurate.)
That being said, however, it looks like a pretty cool film thing. Best wishes.

I’m curious about this.

As an artist who’s been involved in a few projects, I understand the OP’s dilemma. I wouldn’t mind contributing if I had a better understanding of the above. Not that it’s my business mind you, but if I give my money there’s certain things I have to be comfortable with.

Either way, even if GL got the funds to live for a few weeks, he would be homeless after then. As much as I am a patron of the arts, I’m more concerned with the OP’s long term future.

I can’t begin to tell you how many people I know who fit this criteria and who’ve had Indiegogo/Kickstarter campaigns-disguised-as-I-need-money-for-living-expenses-or-for-my-pet’s-surgery.

It makes me distrust crowdfunding even more.

Should I ever donate something, I expect an actual project with an actual turnaround time. There’s no way I’d beg the public for living expense money while I finish my Great American Novel. That’s MY responsibility.
