I’ve tried to ignore it, to tell myself that it’s useless to get upset over such things. If one were to become perturbed at every slight, weather real or imagined, life would soon become nothing more than an exercise in collecting memories. Memories of those who have betrayed us. Memories of occasions when we are (through no fault of our own) victimized in unspeakable manners of seemingly infinite variety. Memories of places we can no longer stand to be lest the painful past come flooding into our delicate psyche yet again for us to relive the horrors thrust upon us in these wretched spaces. I’ve admonished myself countless times. I am certainly not without stain on my soul. Can I truly hold another responsible for their actions when I myself can not claim innocence. I remind myself that we all have faltered, have not lived up to the ideal person we imagine ourselves to be when we lay head to pillow so that we may quiet the softly nagging voices of our conscience and find some small comfort in sleep. I wonder if somehow I’ve brought this upon myself. Have I mistakenly indicated through some mysterious nonverbal communication that this was in fact not of concern to me? That I am not egregiously opposed to this treatment? That I find some modicum of twisted pleasure in these circumstances? I can however no longer stay silent. The pain grows to great to bear. The bitter and sour bile rising in my mouth, just a symptom of the ulcers brought on by the stress of holding this within me, warns me that time may be short. I must exorcise this demon or be devoured by it. Whatever the consequences I must speak. I must purge my soul. The best burritos I ever had were at Black Bean Burrito in Flagstaff, Arizona. Massive tortillas tightly rolled and chock-full of beans, meat, fresh veggies and yes… **rice**. Spanish rice, to be exact. It also helped that Black Bean was the only restaurant still open when the bars closed on Saturday nights, other than Denny’s. Burritos without rice just seem to be bland globs to me now. I’ve been ruined forever by Black Bean’s big beefy burritos full of rice. That said, Taco Bell’s burritos (even the Stuffed Grilled ones) are shit. Always have been, always will be. What the fuck are you doing getting Taco Smell if you like good burritos? ---

Qdoba does it. It tastes all right…but it’s not really a burrito, in my opinion. _sigh_ I miss the good old days when there was a La Bamba’s in Kalamazoo…those guys knew how to make a real burrito… ---

With Chipotle and Freebirds and the like, I always ask them to leave off the rice…i think they use it as a filler and I get more meat and other fixins without the rice… mmm Freebirds… ---

We either use Spanish rice or Potatos O’Brien mixed with ground beef when we make 'em. Mahhhvelous. Really. ---

I’ve never had a burrito that _didn’t_ have rice in it. And San Francisco / Oakland has some damn good burritos. This OP reads to me like … “Milk has no place in cold cereal!” ---

I agree with **Jack**. I live in the Mission District of San Francisco, reknowned for its taquerias (at least one on every block), and every one of them puts rice in burritos. Wait a minute…wait a minute…Does this have anything to do with rice-a-roni being the San Francisco treat? Seriously, aren’t burritos supposed to contain rice? I’ve never had one without, and I though I was visiting authentic Mexican-style taquerias. ---

BAH! **BottledBlondJeanie** nailed it. Rice is a filler to take the place of proper burrito fixins. If served at all woth a burrito ot should be on the side on a platter in a formal Mexican restaurant, not at a quicj burrito joint. ---
