I used to be involved with a youth outdoors group, after spending all weekend on a hike using the radio net I would oftern get home & use my cell phone like a two-way radio: Me:_Yes, it would be great to catch up for coffee, where? Over._ Them: … Over where? Me: _Where do you want to meet?. Over_ etc. etc. ---

Last week at work I was testing something on a laptop and documenting the test on my usual (desktop) computer. The laptop did not have a mouse attached, but my wireless mouse was sitting _right there_. Unfortunately, it didn’t matter how much I used the mouse, it didn’t do a damn thing on the laptop. :smack: ---

Sometimes when I am watching an episode of _The Simpsons_ in syndication, I’ll put the DVD with the episode I’m watching in the DVD player and play _that_ episode. ---

This morning someone sent me an email that included a screen shot of a dialog box from some program. When I finished reading the email, I kept trying to close it by clicking the “Cancel” button on the dialog box image. ---

Not terribly silly, but… While watching the Big Bang theory season finale, I missed a bit of the dialog in the opener, so automatically hit pause, intending to rewind for it. But I wasn’t watching a saved program, or in ‘pause live TV mode.’ So it stopped recording the show, and the recording missed the NEXT bit of dialog until I figured out what happened and hit the pause button again. :smack: ---

Back when I first got a Roomba, I had to keep reminding myself to do the rest of my household chores. Because, while I did have a vacuuming robot, I didn’t have a dish-washing robot, a gardening robot, etc. ---

I am both a bike rider and a car driver. After my first month commuting exclusively by bike, I found myself unthinkingly exhibiting some strange behavior on the rare occasions I did drive my car. For instance, I caught myself trying to signal turns by hand. That’s not so bad, I suppose. What would’ve been bad – had I not caught myself after a moment – was the time I approached a stopped garbage truck on a narrow side street that left only a small space between it and the parked cars. I instinctively began to steer the car to the right because, hey, my bike can fit through that skinny gap! ---

I started taking the bus again last year after a several years’ hiatus. The first time I sat down I had the disquieting feeling that something was not quite right. It took me several minutes to realize it was because I hadn’t put my seat belt on…which buses don’t have, naturally. I had to ride a few more times before that feeling went away.
