Having lurked here for more years than I’d like to admit, I finally broke down and paid for a membership. Heaven help me, like I needed another time waster. Any suggestions how I explain to my husband that I’m paying to add my $0.02 to a bunch of complete (but very entertaining and intelligent) strangers? 🙂 ---

In return you get first-rate repartee, a world-wide consort of some of the most brilliant minds on the planet, although some operate a few watts above dim. No matter because it’s a five course meal at every sitting, complete with fine silver cutlery and china on tablecloths fit for royalty. Or, Dixie cups and paper plates if you prefer. There is always a time and a place for something, and you can take it or leave it. The delight is the dessert never has calories, and its ok if it sometimes drips out of the corner of your mouth. Any question on any topic posed will have an answer. It may not be the answer you seek, but it will be an answer. This is the place where if someone doesn’t know it, they know someone who does. _Six Degrees of Separation_ is probably based on the SDMB. If you prefer hard-core debate or meaningless chatter, its here. Dip your toes or plunge right in because the water is always fine. Just don’t eat the yellow snow. And then there’s Uncle Cecil … ---
