my boyfriend says i snore. i do not snore. i sleep heavy. i enjoy sleeping, it’s one of my best things. i sleep with enthusiasm. i am a happy sleeper.
is there any thing that can stop me from sno–sleeping heavy? do these things advertised on tv work? can i really trust the “love boat” doctor?
i’m getting tired of waking up with a pillow on my head.
if there is no help for sno–sleeping heavy, do you think i can convince him it’s his fault? that he’s not letting me get enough? sleep, i mean.

I know a guy who’s wife insisted that he go through a painful medical procedure to reshape the back of his throat to _cure_ his snoring. After two weeks of a liquid diet and several thousands of dollars guess what happened?

Everyone in my family sno—sleeps heavily. My grandmother also whistled in her sleep, and my mom plays with the phone in her sleep.

The first thing is you to make sure you don’t have a health problem. Read up on sleep apnea. There’s actually a thread going on about it right now:

The thread’s title is “1 in 10 men…” but women get sleep apnea too. Also tonsil and adenoid problems can cause sno—you know.

If you don’t have any health problems, don’t worry about sno—sleeping heavily. It’s cute. It’s adorable. You just need to inform your boyfriend that it’s cute and adorable. Joke about it, and let him tease you about it.

I wouldn’t try any of those things advertised on informercials. You might try those “Breath Right” strips, they work for some people.

Now I get to tell my cute story. One of my cats jumped up on the bed when I was going to sleep. He was fidgety and couldn’t settle down. He kept sitting up and looking at me to see if I was asleep. So I started making loud snoring sounds. He curled up and went right to sleep. I think my cats think I’m purring when I sleep.

I use the breathe right strips and my wife claims they work.

As a bonus, you can enact scenes from ‘Bottle Rocket’:

“Why do you have taht thing on your nose?”
“Exactly.”

thanks for pointing out that other thread. i thought it was about gay men, so i didn’t look at it. (if they ain’t doin it with me, i don’t care who they’re doin)
however, i don’t see very many risk factors for me- female, had my tonsils out when i was 4, i can’t put on weight. however, i am over 40 and do have trouble sleeping sometimes. the breathe right strips cause a rash. and they seem to come off in the night. (and my younguns do a great imitation of me, using duct tape, though-it should be on tv)
i guess i will go see the ent doc.
i will keep you posted.

Read the thread. Males are at greatest risk, but it affects everyone and can have severe impact on your quality of life. Like you, I love sleeping. In the winter, I get giddy climbing between my flannel sheets. I can only imagine how great it will be once I start _sleeping_ again. Read the thread.

Definitely look into the possibility of sleep apnea. I have finally been convinced that I do indeed snore, and this was pointed out by someone who has been diagnosed with sleep apnea.

I can snore while lying on my back, stomach, side, halfway off the bed, curled up, and not one of those cute feminine snores. There is a history of snoring in my family, the worst being my father (and I sound nearly like him):

_ **SKZZYSSKZZZZSSSKYYYZZZZZZZSSSZZZYX** _ (long inhale)
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.[SUB]puh![/sub] (small breath release)

The friend (who has a medical degree, BTW) loaned me his breathing machine for the night. Damned if it wasn’t the best night’s sleep I got in a long time.

I am finally owning up to the fact that I snore [(former)Roommate tried to conhvince me of this for the longest time, but it took a second opinion], and am having myself tested.

Good luck and good sleep.

My husband claims I snore. I like to think I sleep with gusto. Of course, if he ever catches Gusto sleeping with me, it’ll be all over but th… but I digress… I’ve recently dropped a few pounds and he said that seemed to help for a while. Guess I need to shed a few more.

The ENT may be able to give you some insight, but I’d strongly recommend a sleep specialist. There’s snoring, and then there’s _snoring._ **screech-owl’s** description is really a very good one. Turn the volume up to 11, and that’s an apnea snore.

according to my beloved insurance company, i have to see an ent first. the high-school dropou-young lady who ok’s such things suspects me of being “a deviant in the section”.
i knew i was a deviant, but she wouldn’t tell me what section i’m supposed to be in.
so, ent, here i come.

Okay, before I start laughing really, really hard, I’m going to suggest that she said “deviated septum.”

BWAAAAAAAHAHAHA!

Okay, I’m done. A deviated septum does indeed cause terrific snoring. My dad had this problem, had some surgery, and that cleared it up. An ENT would indeed be able to diagnose this for you.
