**Chris** , I think your analogy is imperfect. This is not a closed group of friends. Rather, this is a small town square where a people are getting up on soapboxes and speaking their minds. Sometimes people stop and listen or chime in and great fun is had by all. Then somebody gets up and says “Ya know, I find it annoying when people wander around here and shout random crap. I don’t understand why people feel compelled to do it and I don’t like it.” Then, rather than ignoring him and walking by, stopping to listen, or addressing the issue, the townsfolk just start spouting random crap specifically designed to annoy the soapbox preacher so they can all pat each other on the back for doing absolutely nothing of significance. Great. ---

The one thing I learned early around here is never, never, _never_ let anyone guess how to yank your chain unless you’re fully prepared to have them yank it repeatedly. Because they will. And that’s what I read this thread as. I didn’t see it in terms of “newbie-bashing” so much as in terms of shit-flipping. Was it the latest in reasoned, intelligent discourse? Heck, no. Well, Tymp, in all honesty I think that’s because you were making a point everyone pretty much agreed with – felch is SO over – and not one that people disagreed with. Nor did you say that anyone who disagreed with you posted “lame shit.” I don’t think it’s an oversimplification to say that, in the Pit, at least, people are either going to agree with you or shoot you down in flames. So the choice is often “Me too!” or “Fuck off” – although I would point out that that’s _not_ what Davis received, much as appear to want to paint it as such. He got people flipping him shit by posting that which he professed to be annoyed by. This should have surprised no one. You got people agreeing with you. Lucky you. ---

Why not say “That post was really funny”. Don’t have time to write out the words? I think a few of you have way more than enough time to add those extra letters. An acronym saves time because you don’t have to write out all the words. Guess what? If you have to follow it with an explanation of what the words are, and then, and this is important, _never use it again_ you did not actually save any time. That is lame shit. And whoever said they liked Bwaahaahaa - I agree with you, it is kinda funny. I didn’t complain about it. Just LOL, really. I guess I complained about those lame tea-snorting stories, but I don’t mind them quite as much as LOL. Come on, are you all so attached to it?
