I think it means that her thinks she was ugly to begin with and now she is worse looking…thus making some old pictures seem to be getting prettier. Not sure if you were looking for a serious answer or not, but you got one. ---

Undoubtedly the coolest grave I ever visited was O.W.'s. There are hundreds of lipstick marks all over it (it’s rather large). The funny thing is you know at least half those tributes were made by men. Criterion has a gorgeous DVD of [_The Importance of Being Earnest_](http://us.imdb.com/Title?0044744) that’s worth checking out. ---
