The title sums up the body. I’ve been divorced for three years and I’m ready to be in a relationship again. Actually I’ve been ready for some time now but I don’t know how to meet somebody. I’m told I’m pretty. In some areas I’m above average intelligence and in others, just average. I know I’m nice and I have a lot of love and affection to give to the right man. There are some days that I feel so lonely. I want someone to love and to love me. My standards are pretty high. He has to be intelligent. Stupid people bore me very quickly. I don’t live in a large city and most people meet at the pub which doesn’t interest me in the least. How do I meet someone? ---

In my experience - Meeting people is mostly done by accident. You tend to meet people by not intentionally intending to do so. This happens more when you are a kid than when you are an adult. As an adult the people you meet are nearly always met because of your job. ---

Toronto is a bit of a drive away to meet up for coffee, not to mention a boat ride away too! As for meeting someone at work, I have two jobs. I won’t meet anyone at my one job as I’m alone in an office for that one. I’ve recently started working at a bank though and I’m hoping that will help me to meet someone. The only problem is I work with all women so the only men I meet are clients. I like astronomy, reading, fishtanks, dinosaurs, chess ( gee, no nerd here, eh? ) I there isn’t an astronomy club here and, if there is a dinosaur club, I don’t think I’d want to meet it’s members as they most likely would be too nerdy even for me! I’m just stumped as to how I should go about meeting someone. ---

Actually there are several Dopers in the area. Vancouver Island, Vancouver, Surrey, White Rock… and Langley? There should be a Southern BC Dopefest. Can’t guaranty that you’ll meet an SO, but you’ll get to hang out with people who have similar interests. ---

Stupid PNW weather, messing up the viewing! I listen to _Star Date_ on NPR, and then look out at the obscured sky. Sometimes I miss living in the desert. (Not to mention the fascinating geology there. I should have studied it when I had the chance.) ---
