# I don't like beer

There, I’ve said it. I don’t like beer. My deep dark confession is about the one thing you can’t admit to on the SDMB. No moral or religious problems with it; I just find the stuff rather repulsive. It tastes like battery acid mixed with ammonia.
In my opinion, every beer drinker originates from either parents that drink beer, peer pressure, or a giant chemtrail conspiracy. After time the tastes buds become numb to beer and possibly even prefer the sadistic taste. To paraphrase _So I Married An Axe Murderer_, [Scottish accent] They put an addictive chemical in it that makes ye crave for it nightly. [/Scottish accent]
Now, I’m not saying alcohol itself is bad, just beer. The more beers I sample the more convinced I am of my opinion. This includes beers like Molson, Labatt Blue, and Guiness. (sp?) All of which I’m told taste good, but I think my friends have already succumbed to the dreaded beer goddess.
In this unforsaken land of SDMB beer drinkers and their pervasiveness through the boards (this weeks threadspotting), I’m trying to keep my sanity and Mike’s Hard Lemonade.

I hate beer. I generally don’t drink at all. If I _DO_ drink, I normally stop at one, and drink coke the rest of the time.

I don’t like beer either. A little while back, **Zenster** tried his level best to introduce me to the finer beers, on the theory that my dislike stemmed from tasting watered-down swill, but even his efforts remained fruitless.
In general, I’ve never been the biggest drinker. The occasional margarita is nice, but not much beyond that.

Theres nothing wrong with not liking beer. I’m pretty sure that Guiness is an Ale, which is nasty anyways. I hate ale. I hate the thick feeling it has and the way it tastes like just pure barley or whatever the hell they make beer out of. But I like beer. I don’t really like the taste until about half the can/bottle is gone. Then like you said, my taste buds are tricked and crave more. Question: How pathetic am I? It is currently 2 o’clock and I am on my 3rd beer. Yes I do work but I start at 2am. So i drink early and then sleep and then go to my lovely/crappy job.

Mmmmm…rotten barley. Bleh.
I can’t stand the stuff, either. When inclined to consume alcohol, I drink (in order of preference): mead, margaritas, various liqueurs (I’ve been on a sambuca kick lately), muscadine wine, or other fruit wines. More often, I stick to soft drinks or water.

My dad never drinks, my mom likes them sweet girly-drinks like daquaries, my college was more of a vodka kind of place. So it must be the chemtrails, 'cuz I do love that beer.

…and King Henry VIII’s tailor? A huge stein of mead isn’t a practical proposition. Six ounces of most of my brews leaves the average adult unable to feel his appendages. Few people can stand after 12 ounces. And turkey legs are vastly overrated–stick with the steak on a stick if you must have Faire fare.
May I say that your screenname creeps me out even worse than **Unclebeer** ’s? (As long as I’m on that list, I might as well earn it. 😃 )

Whats wrong with my ScreenName??.HUH? HUH?!..okay. I know. People hate spiders and such. But you know what? Do you? Okay enough of this bullying crap. I love spiders. I want to be an arachnologist when I grow up so I can play with spiders allllllll day. YAY!

Yes i have feeling for **Spyderwoman** but its purely platonic. I don’t swing that way on Message boards. Or the other way either. We defended killing spiders in another thread. One day peoples!! Spiders will rule the earth!

Um, you haven’t lived till you’ve tried German Bier, Czech, or Belgian Ale. Agreed, most american “beer” isn’t all that great. Most of the fancy stuff is fairly nasty as well, not to mention overpriced. Remember though, many breweries in europe were several hundred years old before the U.S. was even founded. So, they’ve had a lot of practice.
Try an authentic wheat beer- Paulaner Hefe Weissen is widely exported to the U.S., (I find it tolerable) if you don’t like that, there’s no hope for you.
