Not strong enough for the pit but this song annoys me. It sounds unnatural and completely by design. It’s like someone said “I want to write an Anthem” and worked backwards. It’s as if a Marketing Team was handed the title “Fight Song” and asked to come up with something. It’s a commercial jingle looking for a commercial (and it has been used in commercials). ---

Argh, I know exactly the song you’re talking about! It’s such a generic girl-power anthem. I actually roll my eyes every time I hear it. Not sure it’s really helping them sell cars (?) or whatever. ---

I’d disagree with **Quimby** ’s assessment. I think it sounds like a truly heartfelt song …from someone who’s never really had any serious hardship in life and as such thinks hardship = not easily getting everything her little heart ever dreamed of. Kinda like, hmmm, I didn’t become an international pop superstar when I made my first record and yet I’m still around …that must make me …a VERY. STRONG. WOMAN! But, y’know, completely heartfelt and sincere considering her genuine perspective. ---

I totally agree this song is heavy on the “empowerment”, but totally lacking on the “what was so hard you needed to be empowered in the first place?”. That being said, I do like the line in the song: “_I may only have one match, but I can cause an explosion_” ---

My main issue with it is that for a song that purports to be empowered and about fighting, it’s remarkably whiny and wimpy. It doesn’t seem to really touch on what it is to actually fight for someone or something. At least in my mind, I tend to think of fight songs being more something that would be done in a more aggressive, defiant and confident style than this song. ---

Listening to the song makes me think it’s just typical pop aimed at angsty tweens who had a pimple totally ruin their participation award photos. But reading the lyrics makes me appreciate there may be something unsaid. If you thought of it in light of someone who had been raped or molested, it would be a much more relevant song. The problem is that the lyrics either don’t want to be that honest, or they’re not really that deep. Maybe the intention is to let listeners substitute their own unsaid bad thing to be a survivor of? (On a less related note, my first thought was that someone was dissing Gamma Ray’s song “[Fight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xhdp1OyaxA)” but that proved to be a false alarm.)
