I was white trash before I went to college, and for the duration I was pure 3.8 GPA somebody, but I blew it on a education-for-educations’s sake education, and I was/am trash once again.
Godamnit, I spent $10,000 on a bachelor of fine arts degree that took me four years plus a fifth year to side-track in Eastern European history. For that kind of money I could have drunk a fifth of Popov and wrapped a Toyota Tercel around a light pole - in only 3/8ths of a second at that - and still had enough left over to pay for 3 months of the Spice channel.
If I had to forgo that swell of a drunk for the sake of turgid pontification in an anonymous artsy-fartsy internet forum, and a net gain of a degree that actually gets me laughed out of most job interviews, then you can damn well suffer the infintesimal carpal-tunnel fallout of moving your mouse on to the next forum header. With a fine arts degree in the 1980’s, the only work I could find was to literally shovel human shit off the deck of a US Navy ship that Ronald Reagan chose to keep on the active list to impress the Russians. And I still do not profess to understand the arts. But I’ll bet I’ve suffered more you, so I know more than you, my essential ignorance of Paul Klee and inability to afford cappacino notwithstanding.
I beseech you in the bowels of Christ to think it possible that are those of us who have paid dearly for the otherwise useless qualifications to post on that “free” forum.

I admit that I intend to borrow the Popov+Tercel imagery for my own complaints about this same subject matter. 
Well, for folks who are concerned that CS might be too artsy-fartsy for us mere humans, I can report that it looks like the mods have moved over there, wholesale, all the MPSIMS and IMHO threads that looked even remotely like Arts & Entertainment material.
So, today’s CS threads include, “Worst Movie You’ve Paid To See”, “Graffitti–is it really that bad?”, “What’s so great about Spinal Tap?” and Doghouse Reilly’s “Why did Michael feel he had to kill Fredo?” thread.
I don’t see a Helen Frankenthaler thread anywhere, Cranky. 
And it looks like the Iliad thread is being rapidly pushed off Page 1 by not one, not two, but three Hobbit threads, plus the “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back” thread.

Get rid of gread debates and the pit? These are the two forums where most of the ignorance-fighting takes place. General questions is for just that (or should be), simple absolute black/white, yes/no type threads. Without GD and the pit, there wouldn’t be much of a point to this board at all.

Wrong. In GQ, questions are answered, and ignorance is dispelled. If GD were able to accomplish the same thing, there wouldn’t be any conservatives left on the boards.
