I would gladly eat a box of butterscotch oatmeal crumbs! I could just upend the box on my face and not be bothered with all the packaging!

> Well, damn it all anyway, I got my KitchenAid stand mixer delivered today, and I was _juuuust_ opening up the box to look at it — I wasn’t going to make anything — and wouldn’t you know, the ingredients for butterscotch oatmeal cookies just _fell right in._ It’s like some kind of curse.

And the cat happened to wander by and hit the on switch? (After safely locking the other side of course–smart cat)

I don’t need your elitist so-called “Kitchen Aid” mixer and its plethora of helpful extensions and exotic devices to make my life whole. All I need is my knockoff Sunbeam and the persistent, migraine inducing nickitanickitanickita sound it makes whirling around on its flimsy insubstantial base. I \* like \* lumpy potatoes and improperly blended cakes. That is why I will not be involved in this [http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/](http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/) contest. Kitchen Aid Artisan Stand Mixer? That’s not the cowboy way.

… or at least I wouldn’t if the contest wasn’t over. :smack: I certainly will not be waiting to pounce when the next mixer is up for grabs. I will not be waiting on tenterhooks. No, my tenterhooks will have no pressure placed on them at whatsoever.

Dammit.

Isn’t a tenterhook one of the attachments on the deluxe KA model?

I don’t need that.
Not at all.

yes, yes, I do. I’m weak and spineless. I loves me my KA Whitey Tighty Mixer.

I still don’t own a “harvest gold” circa early 80s KA mixer.

And in addition to not making cakes, brownies, cookies and meatloaves, I’ve never, ever made small batches of spackle in it for wall/ceiling repairs.

Never, ever.

I got white too, even though I loved cobalt blue at the time, because white was $166 at Macy\*s in NYC. I’m glad I have a timeless one since I no longer like cobalt best.

This person got the vintage avocado one for $8!!

Last night, when I was watching my husband scrape down the bowl of his 5-qt Artisan mixer (that I accidentally bought him several years ago) while making Chocolate Chip Pound Cake, I did not make nefarious plans to buy him a beater blade. Nor did I just go onto [amazon.com](http://amazon.com) and put it on my shopping list for the holidays.

Good thing he’ll be spared that.

ETA: That avocado one is awesome!

it’s a good thing you guys don’t know about [shopkitchenaid.com](http://shopkitchenaid.com), either, where you can buy refurbished mixers at a substantial discount. Pro 5 Heavy Duty models only $199!

I only wish I had countertop or cabinet space to put one of those things! At 25lbs, that IS a bit heavy to pull out each time I need to use it.

I guess I’m the odd one out. We love our KitchenAid Onyx Black Artisan 5 qt mixer. We may be upgrading because we can’t make enough mango lassi at a time with it for our family of seven. Also I’ll have to send it in for repair soon because our lowest power setting seems to have stopped working and we get “vroom, whine, vroom, whine, vroom, whine” sounds out of our second power setting. It wouldn’t be so annoying if it weren’t for the times we hook up the food processor attachment to shred pounds of cheese at a time for super nachos when we have kid’s friends over for sleepovers and stuff and have to shred it on fast so it makes little cheese rolls instead of shreds.

I may eBay it(after having the speed fixed) and get the 6qt 600 watt mixer. The 450 watt 5 qt isn’t really deep enough for making family(my family at least) sized dishes. It’s nice for homemade whipped cream for when we make strawberry shortcake and for mixing up Belgian waffles to cook in our [Waring Pro](http://cdn.overstock.com/images/products/L11032788.jpg) Belgian waffle maker. Still, I’ve been disappointed with the loss of first gear and the flakiness of second. The beater seems to stick too far down in the bowl and if you fill the bowl it gets up around the top of the beater where the spring and lubricant residue is. That’s not a tasty addition to mango lassi.

Enjoy,
Steven

Because you really don’t need my [favourite kitchen toy](http://www.isinorthamerica.com/consumer/c_cream.shtml), which gives you fresh whipped cream at the touch of a button - not fake aerosol stuff - fresh. With maybe a bit of cocoa powder blended through? Or vanilla essence? And the cream is absolutely NOT delectable on top of coffee, or pie, or pavlova, or…

Nah, didn’t think you were interested.

I had to jump in on this one… even though I may be somewhat late. I have _NEVER_ had to use my “Big White” as I call her.
I shun the thought of making at least 30-40 DOZEN goodies every single Christmas, only to pass them out to family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. Leaving only the broken & burnt cookies, bars, fudge, and peanut butter balls to my husband and kids. “Big White” has been around longer than my husband, and if I had to choose between him or my mixer… hmmm, that might be tough.

And NO I do not want the attachments from Santa this Christmas… Not the pasta maker, or the meat grinder… or even another handy bowl (with a handle of course)
😃

Before you send out the Artisan for repair, you may want to try this forum [Kitchenaid.com](http://forum.kitchenaid.com/forums/default.asp) first. There is a good chance you could repair it yourself and save the big shipping fees.

And it does sound as if you could use the 6 quart with the extra wattage. Not that you _need_ it, but you would probably use it anyway.

Not when I have the KitchenAid whisk attachment! The resulting whipped cream is delicious on the chocolate silk pie I mentioned earlier.
