Below the strip is the author’s note: “You know, like when you are petting a dog and rubbing its belly and then WOOPS found a nipple.” That pretty clearly indicates that Tai has accidentally scraped Marten’s nipple, and the pain from that is reflected in Marten’s face. It would have been nice if the placement of her hand was somewhere near where you’d expect his nipple to be. Like you, I wondered whose nipple until I saw the note below. ---

Does Marten, maybe, have his nipples pierced? 'Cuz unless he’s wearing a hair shirt, I can’t figure out how accidentally brushing his nipple would result in the kind of pain he seems to be experiencing, otherwise… ---

Tai felt Martin’s nipple through his shirt, and had a little ‘augh! Man-erogenous-zone’ freaklet. It’s New England, and it’s cold. She probably pinched it by accident. Or maybe he just freaked because she did. – Aww. Martin may have finally crossed his emotional weirdness terminator . . . ---

I didn’t see it as a physical reaction. It’s more like Marten is alarmed and embarrassed that a sexually unavailable female is getting overly familiar with/commenting on his bits. Especially after the recent incident of Faye seeing his dong. ---
