I guess that inadvertently answered the “is she pre- or post-op?” question. Because being nervous over ear-piercing makes no damn sense for one of those. ---

I don’t know about that. I’ve had an organ removed (in my case, a gall bladder, not a penis) and I’m still squeamish about the idea of getting a piercing. ---

The writer’s note at the bottom of “Claire has really good delivery” doesn’t really support that. Jeph took a character I had absolutely no interest in following and made me care about her very much, all in a two week period. In my opinion, he’s getting up there with Alison Bechdel in his genius for sustaining a huge variety of lovable and empathetic characters. In today’s strip, I also acknowledge ol’ crazy May for the credit she gives Dale for being so patient and good to her throughout the story arc of her first appearance (as the invisible robot French maid). I don’t think she ever before mentioned that she was grateful to him. ---
