And maybe it’s the booze talking, but I love this place. It’s been one of the constants in my life over the years and has helped me over some rough patches. ---

It’s strange to think that I’ve been here for 15 years. That almost half my life. I’ve been an idiot for most of it, and I’ve gotten some solid advice out of this place on how to be less idiotic. ---

My only regret is that I only discovered this place a few years ago. I was on the Internet back in 1999, and if I had known that such a community of wonderful weirdos existed then… well, my life would be different now. ---

I am at least comforted that if the place did disappear, the facebook page would help regather us and giraffe boards would be a spot to make sure we re-make this place. ---

Sometimes it’s by watching sharp people be sharp. Other times, the lesson is more of the “Don’t do what Donny Don’t does” variety. Either way, it’s enjoyable. ---

I love it here, too. At one time, it was the only place I posted. But over the last couple years, I decided that if I want to continue to post here happily, I’m going to have to find a black group to post to who understands my background and culture a bit more than what I found here. Now that facebook has splinter groups like Black Atheist and shit like that, I can post here, and when I get frustrated with racial issues, I can post there and find people who get it. It’s working out great. I post to black facebook groups a bit more than I do here, now. But I will never let the dope go. I’m hooked on the dope. ---

I’ve “known” some of you guys (and this place) longer than my 11 year old kid. It’s certainly my #1 go-to spot on the internet and probably my oldest bookmark. Can’t imagine the net without the SDMB. We’ll, I can, but it’s just a bunch of blogs and porn. ---
