I agree with you, nineiron about “Can you say…” Both times you said it. (If I were the type, I would insert a smiley face here.) I find the whole “Can you say…” phrase really irritating. My irritation is pretty irrational. I think that it comes off as pseudo-clever and pretty condescending. Back to the OP, I no longer say “way” as a variation of “very” like I used to, like “That chick is way hot.” ---

Guilty of using “dude.” I also say “Ol’ girl” when referring to someone - not always in the most flattering of ways. I’ll say something like, “Ol’ girl needs to do something about that outfit.” Rude, I know. 😛 I also say, “Are you f\*\*\*ing kidding me?!” and then there is: “Who DOES that?” “No one wants to be that kid.” As in “She the only one who failed the exam…that’s horrible…no one wants to be that kid.” And then if I do something and I can’t believe I did it, I’ll say, “WHO AM I?!” I need some new phrases… 🙂 Tibs ---

whenever there’s an awkward pause in the conversation, i always say, “so how bout those yankees?” even though it’s not baseball season anymore. i especially do it to annoy my brothers who are mets fans ---

I always catch myslef saying “My Bad”. It’s funny, because this phrase bugs the heck out of me. I think I do it just to annoy myself. I’ve also stopped saying :“Jumping German Jesus Creeping H. Crippled Christ on a Crutch”, basically because it was usually said in the heat of anger, and I almost always wound up flubbing it, which would only serve to tick me off further. Such is my life. ---

Doh! That one still seems ubiquitous. I’ve almost managed to break myself of saying “That’s what _she_ said!” (Wayne’s World I think) and “Ree-hee-heelly?!” (Jim Carrey). It’s pretty embarrassing when they pop out and it’s only very rarely balanced off by being appropriate. Damn teevee. As for things other people say that bug me: all of them. And I don’t just mean all the catchphrases. I think people are getting stupider as the millenium change approaches.
