Black Americans tend to vote Democratic not because they are, as a group, overwhelmingly liberal, but because republicans are the party of white racists. This morning it occurs to me that the perverse glee from the right in the U.S. will be short-lived in any case. They lit the fuse a long time ago, and in the next four years they’ll realise that the bomb was sitting in their lap the whole time. The biggest problem is that a lot of innocent people will suffer as well. ---
