# I don't understand otherwise well-meaning liberals who continue to eat meat

Except pakora. When I get Indian food I order takeout but the place is more than 5 miles away, so I order pakora to eat on the way back along with my entree. (Plus, unlike a lot of other types of places, the entrees have bulk and will not cool down too much before I get home. I would not, though, want to actually eat them in my car if that was the only option. Plus, unlike samosas, pakora _does_ have enough area that it will cool down enough to eat quickly, whereas not only are samosas sometimes hot inside, their very shape reminds me of pizza rolls and thus almost hurts my mouth to just look at.)

We recently drove from MI to CO.
Once west of Illinois it started, miles and miles of fields of corn, soybean, and wind turbines. Saw a few Cattle feedlots too. In Colorado we saw large pivot sprinklers spraying water around and above corn plants midday in 99f degree heat.
Ridiculousness! I know corn and soy are not just feeding cows or people but it really put me off beef!
The drought conditions were sobering. A sign said welcome to colorful Colorado, yet the landscape was fried, dusty and brown. Suburbanites all had green lush lawns, fruit trees. Sprinklers going, they’re paying for drinking water to sustain a green lawn. I mean what the everliving fuck are they doing?
I’m okay with a black bean burger.

I would classify myself as a liberal, but I don’t try to rationalize it at all. I eat meat because I like it. I think the underlying reason is that I honestly believe human civilization is heading for disaster for a plethora of reasons, and eating meat is nowhere near the top of the list.

Farmers have been doing this for years in places like Arizona and California and other desert like areas, with water subsidies and other encouragements. There has been no real regard for water usage and it’s effects. Which have been ignored far too long, or have been ignorant about.

Eastern Colorado has always been drab.
