Frankly, I’d politely decline just for the timing issue (never mind the food clusterfuck). Do you really want to be driving home at 11 or 12 at night on Thanksgiving? There will probably be traffic too, with all those early Black Friday sales. Screw that. If they really wanted you there (and I’m not saying they should have to just for a future in-law) they would have moved the meal earlier. Schedule a nice get-to-know-you lunch for some time in December. ---
