# I earn the money in this relationship! What I say goes!

Not everyone feels that way. Fact is, there are still a lot of men who maintain an old fashioned mentality that “the man wears the pants”. Especially if they are in high powered or lucrative jobs where they are used to having things “their way”. For every man like you who feels their wife’s teaching job is important, there are plenty who feel that ‘schoolteacher’ is a stupid job for women with “MRS degrees” to keep busy because it doesn’t pay $400k a year.

The specific example I was referencing came from an article I read by Elon Musk’s first ex wife (as well as a couple people I know personally who expressed that mentality). FWIW, he sounds like an a-hole.

They are. Mostly douchey executives I’ve worked with or younger middle managers aspiring to be like them. Fortunately I feel like I see less of that these days.

Then the primary answer to the various questions in your OP can be summed up as “Don’t marry an asshole” and if you did, divorce their ass.
