@Cervaise [recently posted](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/the-trump-administration-the-clusterfuck-continues/1010068/8803) about obtaining a bank loan to purchase an apartment. It was denied, because the income backing the loan is in dollars.

So that’s some more confirmation of your suspicions.
