# I felt a great disturbance in the force (Star Wars Kinect)

as if a million star wars fans cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something [terrible](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OnDizZ7UT0) has happened.
The link leads to video of _Star Wars Kinect_ gameplay. I never thought Lucas could screw up worse than Greedo shooting first or that floppy eared Steppin Fetchit in _The Phantom Menace_, but he’s outdone himself here. Maybe it was just an insane game designer and Lucas O.K’d it because he just doesn’t give a shit anymore, or maybe Lucas really wants to kill the entire franchise and rape the corpse. Whatever the reason, Han Solo just doesn’t _do_ that. Damn you, George. Damn you to Mustafar.

Nah. I just think the most recent series was crap and River Song annoyed me. Precious is nerd rage over the string bits in the theme tune or that the Daleks are the wrong colour.

And this is of the same level. This is disliking the direction a video game is taking the character.
I’m trying to figure out how to explain the reason I wouldn’t find this sort of thing funny in an official release, but I’m having trouble. The best I can do is point to something I actually am a fan of (Star Trek) and point out that, if in the new movie, Spock were to start dancing to a song about a certain hobbit, I would not be amused, despite the fact that I would think it hilarious if this showed up on something like Family Guy. The latter is referencing and making a joke, The former is retconning a character.

Nope. The difference is the level of outrage. I didn’t like the most recent series of Doctor Who (yet still watched it, would still call it better than most TV of that type right now and have been watching the show since I were a nipper) and didn’t liek one character and mentioned so in a couple of threads that directly dealt with that series and that character. Nerd rage is when the sheer mention of it becomes “MY GOD THIS IS THE WORST THING EVAH LUCAS HAS RAPED MY CHILDHOOD” over reaction that is all over the net regarding this Kinect game.
The reason why? Far too precious about their little Star Wars and having absolutely no sense of humour.
That’s right, people that get all bothered by this have no sense of humour. That’s a fact.
